Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a diverse group of parasitic, viral and bacterial diseases linked to poverty imposing significant health, social and economic consequences. NTDs impose a substantial burden on more than 1 billion people worldwide, predominantly in tropical and subtropical areas and often among the most vulnerable, and marginalized populations.
The pandemic of Covid-19 has disrupted essential health services across the globe, exacerbating inequalities and setting back small scale economies in local communities. The pandemic has disproportionally affected people with NTDs.
DARE-this continues to work with and for people with NTDs aiming to achieve health equity, reducing social stigma and enhancing economic sustainability.
